Manic Monday: Imagine a Day Without Child Care
Monday, May 11, 2026
Across the country, early childhood programs will participate in the National Day Without Child Care to highlight how essential child care is to families, communities, and the workforce. Because many Louisiana programs must remain open to serve families, centers across the state will instead participate in Manic Monday.
On May 11, early childhood programs will invite community leaders—including legislators, business leaders, and local decision-makers—to spend about 30 minutes in the classroom experiencing the work of an early childhood educator. Guests may read with children, assist with activities, and observe daily classroom routines.
Manic Monday helps leaders better understand the vital role high-quality child care plays in supporting children’s learning and development, working families, and Louisiana’s workforce.
